Documents to collect
- All relevant court orders, filed papers, and hearing notices.
- Income records, tax returns, bank and retirement statements, and property and debt information.
- Insurance, childcare, and relevant child-expense records.
- School schedules and a short parenting timeline.
Identify your priorities
Write down the arrangements you hope to achieve and your immediate concerns. Separate urgent issues from longer-term goals. If someone has proposed an agreement, bring the full document and identify any approaching signing or hearing date.
Use the appointment to clarify the next steps
Ask about the scope of representation, fees, communication, and the information still needed. Tell my office if another case is pending or if a child or parent lives outside Georgia so those circumstances can be considered.
